In this episode I discuss ways in which you can switch off and chill out ahead of the crazy Christmas period, and share some ideas on how you can make more sustainable Christmas choices.
mentioned in this episode of The Intentional Mum:
Calm app – I’ve been finding the Calm app really amazing for helping me to calm down and switch off and go to sleep. Other apps for guided meditation like Headspace are also brilliant, or even just listen to an audio book.
Nurturing yoga with Sophia Hanson – Sophia is an amazing yoga teacher who has the most calming voice. I’ve been loving her online six-week nurturing yoga course but you can find plenty of options online.
Crafting – doing something with your hands can be a brilliant way to concentrate on a project and switch off from the world of work. Baking is for me the start of Christmas where I can just enjoy pottering around the kitchen and get ahead on some of the preparation for Christmas Day.
Creating traditions – for me it’s sitting with a copy of the Christmas Radio Times and deciding what TV shows and radio programmes I’m going to watch, listen to or record.
Watching the Geminid Meteor Shower – you can find out more about how to watch the Geminid meteor shower in this article. Grab a flask of hot chocolate and some ginger cake and watch the sky to see what you can see.
Sustainable wrapping paper – Sophie Peach wrote a fantastic post all about sustainable wrapping options. Why not give Furoshiki a go? I’ve also got a Pinterest board with plenty of ideas for creating a sustainable Christmas.
Virtual Christmas cards – I used PicsArt and Canva to create a beautiful Christmas card, which I had printed. But you can also send a card using WhatsApp or messenger and save on postage costs (but if you can, donate the money you save to charity).
